Use Songs to Teach Your Kids Revisionist History
Sesame Street and others of its kind have a real knack for teaching kids important facts and ideas with the use of creative communication, like puppets, cartoons and songs. It is with this in mind that I present the first in a series of posts about teaching your kids principles of dissolution and distrust of government through the use of short songs set to the tune of Yankee Doodle.
I would say don't teach your kids more than one or two verses at a time. Make sure they really have them down before teaching them any more.
Verse 1
In seventeen and seven'-six
some signed the Declaration.
Instead of ending tyranny
they started a new nation.
Chorus
Dissolution is the way
to end state misery!
Break it into tiny bits
for peace and liberty.
Verse 2
The Federalists deigned to rule
after the "Revolution."
To centralize the government
they wrote the Constitution.
Verse 3
Alexander Hamilton
wanted a central bank,
inflation, high taxation,
for these him you can thank!
Verse 4
Washington while President,
Whiskey Rebellion halted.
Used armies against citizens,
their liberties assaulted.
Verse 5
Adams was a petty man;
he hated criticism.
He signed a law to put detractors
in a federal prison.
Verse 6
Jefferson was freedom's friend
until he rose in office.
Bought up land with currency
he'd stolen from the coffers.
Verse 7
Madison helped pen the words
that follow "We the People."
Too bad he didn't follow back
while in the nation's steeple.
Feel free to use, share and distribute these at your convenience. More verses to follow.
